5 Dog Health Tips

I wanted to let you know that you can avoid a number of dog health problems before they start by just observing your dog.

Take note of his behaviour, things like excessive panting, not eating the same way he usually does, drinking large amounts of water or very little water, constant scratching at the same spot or shaking of the head. These observations could be the first step in solving your dog health problem.

These signs are indicators that something could be wrong with your best friend. So what can you do? Well, let's touch on a couple of things here...

1. Your dog's nose should be wet. If it's not there could be a problem. A dog's nose is wet because of the natural inclination to lick the nose and lips. A dog has more saliva build-up than a cat for instance. If the nose is dry you should check carefully for a higher than normal temperature or other signs like going off their food or lethargy. These could all be indications of more serious underlying problems.

2. Any change in eating behaviour should be checked out thoroughly. If you are feeding kibbles or other dry dog foods then an adequate supply of water should be on hand. There are numerous dog health problems associated with commercial foods.

I personally don't agree with feeding dogs dry food. It doesn't matter which one it is. Having been involved in the manufacture of pet food, I can guarantee you that commercial dry foods are the biggest con ever perpetrated on pet owners. Yes it's convenient, but the short, medium and long term health impact on your pets is devastating. Commercial foods are linked to all sorts of dog health problems affecting the mouth, teeth, throat, gullet, stomach and colon, not to mention bones, skin and coat as well as eyesite problems.

I've found a stunning site that gives you anwers to why your dogs are dying earlier than they should, developing dog health problems and much more. They also have the answer to these problems. The guy behind the site was shocked after discovering the dreadful state of the commercial dog food industry and set out to find a solution to the problem.

An Introduction To Dog Health Care

Dog owners should be voracious readers of books and materials on dog health care. They should be enthusiastic in asking questions at every visit to the vet. Dog health care is one important topic that should not be taken lightly by dog owners.

Dogs get sick from parasites, viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and fungus. These diseases and infections are sometimes fatal unless discovered and treated early. They sometimes cause chronic illness and damage organs of dogs. Veterinary researchers have developed drugs that reduce the effects of diseases and parasites. Some diseases affecting dogs are rabies and hepatitis parainfluenza. There are other viral diseases that may afflict dogs. To prevent dogs from getting sick, it is important that dog owners put a premium on their health by investing their time and money to go to the vet for vaccinations of their dogs.

Vaccinations work by stimulating the dog’s immune system to produce antibodies to fight against subsequent attack. Modified live vaccines can cause long immunity and facilitate development but may give rise to a mild illness. Killed vaccines are more stable and do not produce mild infections and have a longer shelf life, although the protection may not last very long.

When a mother dog is vaccinated, her puppies will get the same immunity when they drink her colostrum, found in her milk. Puppies generally get a series of immunity shots since it is not certain when that immunity from the mother’s milk wears off. After the initial puppy shots, vets recommend boosters at age one and subsequent boosters at six months, a year, and three years, depending on the disease and its prevalence in your area.

Vaccines can be given either separately or in combination. Some dogs, though, have varied reactions to vaccines and some dog owners and even veterinarians are questioning the principle of giving puppies so many vaccine shots. Researchers found out that dogs may be protected by more than a year by some vaccines. Some vets recommend three year intervals of administration of vaccines for older dogs that are not exposed to diseases. Still, it is agreed that vaccination is the first line of defense against deadly and debilitating diseases.

A Dog Health Problem Can Make For An Unhappy Pet?

Hi, this is my first post and I would like to thank you for visiting. I have always had pets and my favourite has always been my Pyrenean Mountain Dogs. These big lovable animals are fantastic with children and smaller pets like cats and chickens, in fact just about any other animal is safe when these gentle giants are around. They're difficult to train because they are so independent but make for amazing guard and companion dogs. They don't eat as much as you might expect. I've always had an interest in dog health care because when things go wrong with a Pyr they are usually quite big.

As with most pedigreed pets, my Pyrs have had some health issues. Most are related to the that they ate. I always thought that the premium commercial pet food was best. What a mistake. After being involved in a cat food manufacturing venture with my wife, we discovered the big secret concerning pet food. It's a secret they'd rather you didn't discover. It's all the junk they can get away with puting in your pet's food. Even poisons that are outlawed in human food.

We had changed our dogs onto a healthy raw food diet and wanted to manufacture a holistic cat food. It was then that we discovered how bad the ingredients in commercial pet foods are. Poisons abound and they aren't even allowed in human food. People don't realise that they're killing their pets by feeding this junk .

I thought I'd let you know that I've come across an awesome book that gives you all the details about how to feed your animals a heathy dog food diet that will ensure they live longer and are more healthy.

Check it out this amazing way to prepare the healthiest dog food , and let me know what you think.

I hope you come back soon as I am constantly on the lookout for tips and suggestions that will help you to enjoy your dogs so feel free to let me know how you keep them happy and healthy.

I'd love to hear from you if you have been able to use the resources here to solve your dog health problems.

Blessings to you all,

John
